The challenge was in protecting the brand equity of the individual businesses while providing a consistent web experience across the sites.“This was an exciting web redesign project from a design, look and feel standpoint because we were starting from scratch,” said Tim Hawkins, creative director at Wakefly. “We began with an in-depth interview with key stakeholders to understand the essence of the businesses, what they represented, their unique value proposition and from there we were able to develop a modern, high tech approach that still enabled the individual businesses to maintain their own identity within a consistent framework.”Wakefly chose Kentico as the underlying content management system is because its open architecture and .net framework simplified the steps involved in writing scripts to pull content from disparate sources into Kentico. While each site has its own Kentico license, website administrators enter one management area and with a simple pull down menu select the site they want to manage.Wakefly’s search engine marketing team conducted a comprehensive, customized search engine marketing assessment of the consolidated web properties, including analyzing over 50 organic check points, developing a comprehensive list of keywords for the businesses and investigating the search engine marketing activities of their main competitors.To date, the results include a shared experience across all the business units and visitors better understand the global reach and vast technology portfolio of Smiths Interconnect.
