It’s been a great year for social media, in it’s ever changing landscape, social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, WhatsApp, Snapchat, YouTube and more are continuing to engage and captivate audiences. It is critical for marketers to stay ahead of the game and make the most out of these platforms. Here is our social media trends to look out for in 2019-
All about the visuals…
From what you can already gather, image and video content has been more prevalent this year. And it comes at no surprise that visuals, especially videos will become more dominant in 2019. According to Cisco, “By 2019, 80% of the World’s Internet Traffic Will Be Video”. This is critical for content and social media marketers. Most platforms make it easier than ever to instantly record, edit, and post a video. You want to ensure you are representing your brand or product with videos. If your fans or future prospects view your video on their newsfeed, they are slowly investing in a long-term relationship with you. In addition to videos, making the transition from text-based posts to image-based posts will also boost your brand or product. The right images can grab your audience’s attention a lot quicker than text, so snap away!

We are live!
Periodically when you view the social media feed on your phone or desktop, you are shown some friend or organization posting a live video, social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and Snapchat are now pushing to the forefront live videos, and will even notify you when the live video is initiated. YouTube was one of the first platforms to begin this live video trend. This is a great opportunity for marketers to further engage with their audience. Posting a live video adds the “authenticity” factor that audiences can benefit from. Live videos have the natural ability to build trust and loyalty with a brand.

Let me tell you about a story…
As social media becomes more universal, in 2019 it will continue to get more personal. The Stories format of Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat will overtake the newsfeed in 2019. You will see brands embrace more of that personal and “in the moment” content. Stories content will shift the person’s attention from product to people. You can use stories and images to connect with people as humans, not robots. Experiment with stories, most social media platforms only allow your story content to last 24 hours. Find a story that works, build trust, and allow people to discover more about your brand.

Make the most out of your social media platforms by generating more visuals, live videos, and story-telling, it will help boost your brand and enhance your “wow factor”. As you head into the new year, we hope your social media trends upwards!
