Project Overview

Total Quality Logistics (TQL) is a national freight brokerage and logistics service provider. After a successful Kentico training engagement with Wakefly in early 2018, we were invited to participate in TQL’s RFP process for their website redesign. Ultimately, we were selected and began the project in November of 2018.

TQL provided initial desktop designs for the website and our teams collaborated closely to adapt them into responsive layouts that followed Bootstrap best practices, as well as create a development plan that would give their content editors a lot of flexibility. The new site was built on Kentico 12 EMS and uses some content personalization. There are three distinct personas that TQL works with so we defined those within Kentico and set up the homepage banner messaging and call to action to adjust according to the activities and attributes of website visitors that match the persona rules that were established.

The Locations area of the site was built using Google maps Javascript API to tie in TQL’s office location pages with the map itself to minimize the level of effort for updating so everything can be managed in one place. We also integrated the job search bar to pass through search values to their careers site (managed in a separate third-party platform), as well as their tracking platform to provide a seamless user experience. In order to meet GDPR compliance requests, the site also includes a cookie notice banner and custom functionality for form consents and the right to be forgotten.

The most important feature of the site is the custom flexible widget template that was created specifically for TQL. After an extensive content review, we were able to determine a set of over 20 custom widgets that can be added to this flexible template in any order. This provides a wide array of design options for content editors without needing to pull in a developer. While there are a lot of content options to choose from, the content adjusts responsively without issue since it was built using the Bootstrap responsive framework. TQL has multiple blogs and edits content frequently on the site so the improved editing experience saves them a lot of time and headaches.
