WORCESTER, MA – May 18, 2006 – Jewish Family Service of Worcester, Inc., today announced it has received the KOVOD Award in Print and Electronic Publications for excellence in website design from the Association of Jewish Family & Children’s Agencies (www.AJFCA.org). JFS recently redesigned, expanded and relaunched its website, www.jfsworcester.org, through the professional services of Wakefly, of Westborough, MA, a provider of marketing, sales and interactive business solutions (www.wakefly.com).
Dr. Stephen Slaten, Executive Director of JFS of Worcester, accepted the award at the AJFCA’s 34th Annual Conference, in San Jose, CA. The AJFCA is a membership organization of more than 145 Jewish Family and Children’s Agencies in the United States and Canada. Member agencies provide social services to children, adults and the elderly in the Jewish and general communities.
The winners of the KOVOD Awards competition are selected by an independent panel of judges who evaluate submissions from member agencies. The criteria for the award include website navigation (how easy-to-use), breadth of content (how comprehensive, inclusive, timely), design (how attention-grabbing, well conceived and aesthetically pleasing), and effectiveness (in the judges’ opinions, will it work?).
“JFS is delighted to accept this award,” Dr. Slaten said, “and we are gratified that our website has earned international recognition among the JFS community of agencies. By redesigning and enhancing the website, we hope to better serve our clients and the ‘family of friends’ who support our work.”
Rabbi Seth Bernstein, President of the JFS Board of Directors, added, “At JFS, we work to connect those in need with compassionate care. We are confident our new website will become a more effective portal to information on JFS and the wealth of complementary services available through the Internet.”
Jewish Family Service of Worcester, Inc., provides counseling and social services to support individuals and strengthen family life. Based on traditional Jewish values of social responsibility and concern for all members of the community, JFS serves those in need without regard to race, religion or the ability to pay.
