WESTBOROUGH, Mass. – July 25, 2006 – Wakefly, an innovative, award-winning marketing and technology firm specializing in integrated marketing communications, announced today that it received a Marketing Communications Award at the annual SMPS Boston Awards Gala for its work on the DiNisco Design Partnership web site.
The DiNisco Design web site (www.dinisco.com) designed by Wakefly won honorable mention in the web site category. According to the judges, it was “easy to navigate and very professional;” the “copy seems personal, concise and direct;” and it was “impressive for a smaller firm.”
Determined by a panel of distinguished jurors with expertise in marketing, communications and the architectural, engineering and construction (A/E/C) industry, the SMPS Boston Marketing Communications Awards honor individuals and firms that have demonstrated excellence in developing marketing communications materials, including any web site created to promote a firm in the built environment. SMPS Boston is the local chapter of a national organization, the Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS), dedicated to promoting and advancing marketing in the built environment.
DiNisco Design, an award-winning architectural firm specializing in educational, municipal and institutional facilities, was unhappy with its previous web site as it diluted the brand, was difficult to navigate and did not clearly articulate the firm’s unique value proposition.
“After interviewing several firms to assist us with the re-design of our web site, we selected Wakefly,” said Donna DiNisco-Crawford, vice president at DiNisco Design Partnership. "Our goals were to update the look of our web site and to take advantage of the latest technology available for web design. Wakefly created a content management system that is user-friendly and that allows us to easily update our site ourselves, thereby lowering the total cost of ownership over time. Wakefly was very professional, great to work with as a team and they met every deadline. We feel the final design met all of our goals and we are pleased SMPS Boston has recognized the talented team at Wakefly.”
Working off a project photograph supplied by DiNisco, Wakefly created a home page with diagonal lines which jut out to create openings and break up the space, allowing windows for other photographs to give some depth to the composition. This eliminated a “boxy” horizontal and vertical approach to the web site design. Wakefly felt that it was important to showcase a portfolio of work on the home page to help highlight the breadth and depth of DiNisco Design’s architectural work. Finally, with the content management system Wakefly built, DiNisco is able to easily add new projects to the portfolio section, further showcasing the firm’s work.
“DiNisco wanted the visitor to immediately know that it is an architectural firm -- the old site simply didn’t reflect a firm of DiNisco’s size, stature and expertise,” said Jon Baer, President at Wakefly. "The new design projects an image of a sophisticated and design-oriented architectural firm and the home page clearly identifies DiNisco’s services and expertise, enabling visitors to quickly learn 'who they are,' and making the site a successful sales and recruiting tool. We are thrilled to be recognized by SMPS Boston for our work on behalf of DiNisco.”
