Find all the major directories that list your business and fix any incorrect information with this free service. Simply enter your business name and zip code for Moz to identify local listings online and give you a visual representation of what needs to be completed. As you click on each tab, edit the information according to the recommendations. These listings are valuable because they help customers find your company’s contact information, as well as allow you to manage your online reputation and monitor reviews. One of the first websites Moz Local evaluates is your Google Local listing; this single account is so important that we’d like to talk about it specifically.
This is Google’s modern version of old-school Yellowpages. It includes not only standard business information such as addresses and phone numbers, but also photos, videos, and reviews. Google Local can be linked to any of Google’s other products for your convenience. Verify your business to prove it exists (Google will send you a postcard once you have requested verification) and add further validity to your page. Create a Google+ profile attached to Google Local in order to update content, make announcements, and establish a YouTube channel (if you so choose). Google is creating stronger connections between its products and the Google+ and YouTube integration is one of the most significant changes to date.
Google+ has a relatively small user base compared to the other major social networks, but its tremendous power lies within Google Search. Although Google claims using its social network bears no weight on results, the data seems to suggest otherwise. Updated and better yet, verified listings, can gain traction with customers.
