Tis the season to think about what you are thankful for. One time-held holiday tradition my family partakes in seems to be a fairly common one. Every year before we stuff our faces with turkey we go around the table and say what we are thankful for. This is not exactly my favorite Thanksgiving tradition, I like the watching football part better, but I think it is good to take time and reflect on positive things in your life every once in a while. In this post I will list the four things I am most thankful for in the digital marketing world. They may sound cliché or sappy, but they are true in my eyes.
- Great Clients – Whether you do PPC, SEO, Display or Affiliate Marketing nothing makes your work easier than a great client. People that are responsive, understanding, know their goals, have realistic expectations and are willing to take your input, make the best clients. We have many great clients here and I am thankful for all of them.
- Great Coworkers – You are only as good as the team around you. A team that works hard, works together, and is open to the different ideas of fellow team members, will be the most successful. I am fortunate to have a great team here and I am thankful for that.
- A Great Boss – If your boss sucks then work sucks, it is plain and simple. You could have awesome clients and the best team ever, but you will still hate coming to work if you have a bad boss. I am lucky enough to have a great boss here. He has a vision and is able to put the pieces in place to make it happen. He is respectful, understanding, fair, honest, and he will always go to bat for you if you treat him the same way. I am thankful for my boss.
- A Great Company to Work for – Having the first three things on my list will make working at any company bearable. Having a great company to work for will actually make work enjoyable. For most jobs you need to drag yourself out of bed and fight insane rush hour traffic to get there. Working for a great company will make those things more tolerable and you will even still want to do good work when you finally arrive. We have a close knit environment here with plenty of room for advancement and I am thankful for that.
Thanks for reading the four work related things that I am thankful for this Thanksgiving season. I know they may seem corny, but I truly am thankful for everything I have here. I hope you all have a happy, healthy and safe holiday!
