Kentico Implementation Case Study: Decision Resources

Goals
"Our goal with the website is to get visitors the information they need as quickly as possible,” said Elizabeth Marshall, director of marketing at Decision Resources. “To accomplish this, we worked with Wakefly to determine optimal site paths and calls to action. Wakefly did a great job of guiding us through this process and incorporating the considerations into the site design and architecture."

To accomplish the goals set by Decision Resources, Wakefly’s creative team worked with the company on finalizing the design for the new site, taking into account information architecture best practices to optimize a visitor’s flow through the site. The strategy also included lead generation, devising calls to action to convert as many visitors as possible into qualified opportunities. Finally, to make sure the content can be easily updated, Wakefly developed the Decision Resources website on the Kentico content management system.

Challenges
Decision Resources’ old CMS presented the company with several challenges, including:

  • It was a built-on proprietary technology
  • Marketing always had to ask IT to make changes (IT bottleneck)
  • It contained significant custom code that made adding additional features a challenge
  • It took significant time investment to create landing pages for marketing campaigns
  • Lack of easy reuse of design templates across the site requiring the company to duplicate look and feel / templates repeatedly across the site
  • Lack of workflows to approve content prior to go live
  • Difficult to capture leads because there was no easy to manage form

Kentico addressed all the above issues with out of the box functionality. Decision Resources also stores all its reports in a third party system called iPublish. Wakefly wrote webparts that consumed XML from web services available from iPublish. The webparts provided advanced search capabilities and also the displaying of reports contained within iPublish. The displaying of reports followed the same look and feel as the rest of the site.

The project took 10 weeks to complete.
